Angling can be life-changing — and so can you.
At AMHI (Angling Mental Health Initiative CIC), our coaches help people reconnect with nature, manage their mental health, and find purpose — all through the simple act of fishing. Whether you’re an experienced angler, a supportive parent, a young person, or someone seeking a new direction, there’s a coaching pathway here for you.
As an AMHI Coach, you’re not just sharing fishing skills — you’re offering calm, connection, and confidence to those who need it most.
You’ll be helping:
People facing mental health challenges such as anxiety, PTSD, and depression
Isolated individuals looking for purpose and routine
Families and young people attending our inclusive fishing sessions
Community members referred through social prescribing schemes, including the NHS
Our coaches help build trust, routine, and resilience — one cast at a time.

Supporting the next generation of angling leaders
We proudly support a dedicated Junior Coaching Team, offering young people the chance to get involved, build confidence, and gain new skills — even if they’ve never picked up a rod before.
For young volunteers (typically 10–16 years old):
No angling experience required
Parental consent is essential
Positions are subject to:
Signed Junior Volunteer Agreement (completed by a parent or guardian)
This is perfect for young teens looking to make a meaningful impact and gain early coaching or community experience in a supported, inclusive setting.
Coaching and volunteering as part of your wellbeing journey
We actively welcome social prescribers referred through the NHS, offering tailored volunteering and coaching roles for those looking to:
Rebuild confidence
Reconnect with others
Improve their mental health in a supportive, structured way
No pressure, no expectations — just a chance to contribute, grow, and heal alongside others who understand.
Through our valued partnership with Community People, volunteers and coaches can access:
Community-led training workshops and skills days
Meetings with civic leaders such as the Town Mayor and High Sheriff of West Sussex
Opportunities to engage with wider support networks, charities, and local initiatives
This is coaching with a real-world impact — not just at the water’s edge, but across the community.
As a thank you for your time and dedication, all AMHI Coaches and Volunteers receive:
12% Discount at Bodle Angling, our exclusive sponsor
Full access to Angling Trust Coach Benefits, including insurance and discounts (Angling Coaching licence required)
Access to workshops and CPD sessions
